Kuwait Monodrama Photography Contest Ceremony

Under the patronage of Suad Al-Rifae, the ex assistant undersecretary of the ministry of education, a ceremony for honoring the participants and the committees involved in Kuwait's second Monodrama festival, which was active in the period from 11th to 17th April 2015, on Dasma theater. It involved the plays of many participants from Arab and European countries under the patronage of Sheikh Salman Al-Hmood Al-Subah, minister of information and minister of the state for youth affairs.

The ceremony, which was held in Ahmad Al-Adwani Hall in Abdullah Al-Salem avenue, involved announcing the winners of the photography contest for the best shot taken during the festival, which was themed “Humanitarian Monodrama”. Many celebrities attended the ceremony lead by the founder of the festival Mr Jamal Al-Lahw, and including astronomer Saleh Al-Ujairy, the renowned entertainer Shadi Al-Khaleej, the renowned actor Mohammed Al-Mansour, counselor Khalid Al-Shamrookh, the head of the Arab Public Relations Assembly Said Salem from Egypt, counselor Najla Al-Naqi and many others. The ceremony started with the opening of the photography exhibition for photographs taken in the festival, followed by an introduction, a welcome and a praise for those who contributed to the festival, by announcer Habibah Al-Abdullah.

The patron of the ceremony, Suad Al-Rifae, gave a speech praising the festival and its contributors. “We are proud for the Kuwaiti youth which contributed to this festival, and also the participants in the photography contest, because they are the treasure of this country, specially that this festival came in time along with the honoring of his Highness the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Subah Al-Ahmad Al-Subah by the United Nations as a humanitarian leader, and naming Kuwait as an international humanitarian center; a notion that brought happy tidings to the nation,” She said. She praised all the participants who contributed and worked in the festival, lead by its founder Mr Jamal Al-Lahw, who contributed his absolute attention for organizing the plays.

On the other hand, the head of the Arab Public Relations Assembly, Said Salem, considered that Kuwait's Monodrama festival is an example in creativity and shows the care given to arts and literature in Kuwait, and it shows also how much effort was given by Mr Jamal Al-Lahw to reach such a level. He also said that such foundation which Mr Al-Lahw contributed to Kuwait has a great humanitarian value and it adds to the cultural role of Kuwait, specially that many participants from different countries had a role in this festival. He also paid tribute to the role of the Arab Public Relations Assembly.

On his part, Mr Al-Lahw, the founder of the festival, expressed his gratitude for honoring the committees and teams which participated in this festival and said that the level to which this festival had reached was not possible if not for the cooperation and the continuous efforts from everyone involved, and also praising the patronage of the minister of Information and the minister of the state for youth affairs, Sheikh Salman Al-Hmood Al-Subah, and praising the efforts of the National Committee for Culture, Arts and Literature, and every individual who worked hard for the success of this festival.

The ceremony also included honoring the astronomer Saleh Al-Ujairy, PhD; and the entertainer Shadi Al-Khaleej, and the actor Mohammed Al-Mansour, and individuals who contributed to the festival beside the founder himself, Mr Jamal Al-Lahw by the Arab Public Relations Assembly. At the end of the ceremony, the winners of the photography contest were announced for the best photograph from the festival.
